Warm and Test (Take a practice driving lesson and then do the test)

We recommend that customers who have not received formal professional training consider taking examiner warm-up training courses. This includes new drivers who practice driving with family members or friends, as well as experienced drivers who hold foreign driver’s licenses. Although these drivers may have years of driving experience in other countries, they may be unfamiliar with U.S. and Washington State traffic laws and local driving requirements.

Therefore, before taking the road test, we strongly recommend completing at least half an hour or one full hour of examiner warm-up training. These sessions are designed to improve driving and parking skills, enhance understanding of local traffic laws and regulations, increase familiarity with road signs and signals, and strengthen judgment of right of way at different traffic situations. The training also helps candidates become familiar with the road test procedures, build confidence, and reduce pre-test nervousness.

During the training, the examiner will identify and point out mistakes in a timely manner, helping students avoid making the same errors during the actual road test. For beginner drivers, the examiner will focus on key test items within a limited time, including uphill and downhill parking, parallel parking, backing around a corner to the right, lane travel, traffic signals, stop signs and flashing lights, right-of-way rules, and other essential driving skills.

We understand that every candidate hopes to pass the road test successfully. However, knowing how to drive safely and make correct right-of-way judgments at various intersections is far more important than simply passing the test to obtain a driver’s license. We train every candidate to strictly follow Washington State traffic laws and regulations and to become a safe, responsible, and courteous driver. Respecting the lives of others is the same as respecting your own life.
